Shin Mizuno(Fukushima,1983)
lives and works in Fukushima, Japan

Shin Mizuno (b. 1983, Tochigi, Japan; based in Fukushima) is a photographer whose practice investigates how perception emerges and transforms between vision, body, and environment,  approaching photography as a practice of recording and reconfiguring the conditions of seeing.

His early series A Familiar Stranger (2013) looks at the delicate boundary between familiarity and estrangement within his hometown.

After receiving the Excellence Award at the Canon New Cosmos of Photography 2013 in the same year, he began developing his long-term project Ushibone, which moves beyond personal narrative to focus on perception itself.

In 2025, he was selected as a member of the inaugural art program “APK Studies” by Toda Corporation, where he is currently producing The Birth of Play, a project based on caregiving experiences shared with his grandmother.

Through this work, Mizuno reinterprets frameworks of care and collaboration, exploring new forms of perception where photography engages with the social sphere.
